Is The Board free?

The app is free to download and free to try for 3 rulings. After that, you buy the app once (£4.99 in the UK). The AI is never free: every question, including your 3 trial rulings, runs on your own OpenRouter account and OpenRouter charges you for it. Buying the app includes no AI credit.

What is The Board?

An app that puts your question to a board of 2 to 5 AI models at once. Each answers independently, they review each other's answers without knowing who wrote them, and a Chair model writes one clear ruling. You also see how closely the board agreed and where members differed.

Why ask several AIs instead of one?

Different models are trained differently and make different mistakes. Seeing where they agree, and where they don't, tells you how much confidence to place in an answer. The anonymous peer review also catches errors a single model would miss.

What is OpenRouter, and why do I need it?

OpenRouter is a separate company that gives one account access to hundreds of AI models from many companies. The Board uses your OpenRouter account to reach the models on your board, so you only need one account and one balance. Tap Connect OpenRouter in the app, sign in or create an account, and tap Authorize. See the step-by-step connection guide.

How much does it cost?

There are two separate costs.

1. The app: free to download, and you can try 3 rulings. To keep using it, a one-off purchase (£4.99 in the UK; prices vary by country) unlocks the app. There is no subscription. This buys the app only. It includes no AI credit.

2. The AI: every question, including your 3 trial rulings, runs on your own OpenRouter account, and OpenRouter charges you for it. A typical question costs from under 1p with a Value or Quickest board to around 40p with the most powerful models. The app shows an estimate before you ask.

Does the £4.99 include any AI credit?

No. The purchase buys The Board app only. All AI use is paid for through your own OpenRouter account, and Just Ask Apps never provides, sells or bills AI credit. You need to connect OpenRouter and have credit there before the app can answer anything, including during the trial.

How do I add credit to OpenRouter?

On the OpenRouter website, open Settings → Credits. OpenRouter sets its own prices and fees. We suggest also setting a spending limit on your key (Settings → API Keys). The app shows your remaining balance at the top of the screen; tap it to refresh. Full steps are in the connection guide.

Are my questions used to train AI?

Not by us. Whether OpenRouter or a model provider may keep or learn from your questions depends on their policies and your OpenRouter privacy settings, where you can limit which providers are used. Check those settings before asking anything sensitive.

Is it safe to put personal or confidential information in?

Treat it like any online AI service. Your question leaves your phone and goes to OpenRouter and the AI companies on your board. Avoid health details, passwords, financial account numbers, and other people's personal data unless you are comfortable with those companies having them.

Can I use my own API key instead?

Yes. In Settings, open Use an API key instead, paste an OpenRouter key and tap Save.

Do you see my questions?

No. Questions go straight from your phone to OpenRouter and the AI companies on your board. We have no server in the middle and no account for you. See the privacy policy.

Where is my OpenRouter key stored?

Only on your phone, in its secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android's Keystore-protected storage). It is only ever sent to OpenRouter.

I have a new phone. How do I get my unlock back?

Install The Board, sign in to the same Apple ID or Google account you bought it with, then go to Settings → Restore purchase. Your saved rulings stay on your old phone; they aren't synced.

Does the unlock work on both iPhone and Android?

No. Apple and Google sell purchases separately, so an unlock bought on one only restores on that store's devices.

What are the Chair modes?

They decide what the Chair writes: a Consolidated ruling, the Chair's own Answer, a Challenge of the consensus, an Action plan, a Scorecard of options, a Pre-mortem, the Numbers, a one-page Brief, or a ready-to-send Draft.

A member failed or was swapped. Why?

Models are sometimes busy or temporarily unavailable. The app retries, then brings in a stand-in so the board can still rule. If the Chair doesn't respond, the chair passes to another strong model. You'll see a note when this happens.

It says "Out of credit" or "OpenRouter rejected the key".

Top up at openrouter.ai, or check that the key hasn't been deleted or hit its spending limit. You can reconnect in Settings.

Can I rely on the ruling?

Treat it as a well-argued second opinion, not professional advice. AI models can be wrong even when they all agree. For legal, financial, medical or other important decisions, check with a qualified professional.

Should I keep the app open while it works?

Yes. A full board can take from 20 seconds to a few minutes. The app keeps the screen awake; if you switch away for long, your phone may pause it.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Withdraw consent and delete everything removes your key, saved rulings and settings from the phone. You can also revoke the key itself at openrouter.ai.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by the store. For Apple, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, open your order history and choose Request a refund. If something isn't working, email us first and we'll help.

Who can use it?

Adults aged 18 and over.

How do I report a harmful or wrong answer?

Tap Report under any ruling, or go to Settings → Report a problem with an AI answer. Your email app opens with the details filled in, so you can check them before sending. We read every report and use them to improve the app's instructions and default boards. We can't change how the AI companies' models behave.

How do I contact you?

Email [email protected], or use Settings → Email support in the app, which adds your app version for us. We aim to reply within two working days.
